Passing the Plarn

Plarn has been a passion of mine for over a year now. What a wonderful way to turn waste to value. Couldn’t get anyone else to crochet it with me but everyone at church is willing to save their plastic bags for me. So, for a year I’ve been the sole crochet worker in this project and I have the trigger finger to prove it! Above are my most recent creations. I’ve sold quite a few of them lately.

Recently I gave a plarn bag to Malay, the daughter of the couple who own Bageland. She loves to crochet and asked me how to turn plastic bags into plarn. I told her to go to YouTube and type in plarn. There’s lots of folks on there ready to show you how it’s done.

You can see how much work is waiting for me.

My basket runneth over. There are fifty six balls in this basket.

I always give Malay the brown plarn. I don’t care for brown.

The next time I gave her a bag of plarn from the stash hanging out in my garage. Over the next two weeks I gave her about 20 balls of plarn. Well, last Friday she surprised me with this bag she’d made. It’s her first project and, let me tell you, it looks much better than my first plarn project.

For me Malay is an answer to prayer. I’ll give her all the plarn she wants because it takes some of the pressure off my right index finger.
