Earth Keepers
Today I finished my Earth Keepers course through the UMC Board of Global Ministries. I met so many strong Christians from all over the country who also wish to call their congregations to action in order to save our fragile environment.
Thanks to Rev. Jenny Phillips for leading us through the process.
One of my classmates plans to have electric charging stations on her church campus, someone else plans to start a community garden, another wants to highlight a wooded area on their campus and use it to inspire their community to be more green. The list goes on and on.
Guess what my project is about?
GARBAGE!
Compostable materials, to be more precise. Anyone who knows me is not surprised.
I don’t know why God has given me such a strong affinity for kitchen waste but there it is. God is calling me to get more folks involved in this particular form of recycling.
My little town of Williston doesn’t have a community system of composting. Maybe it’s time someone changed that.
