Shred That Cardboard Container
“The only good garbage can is an empty garbage can.” I got that saying from the Sierra Club. It’s good for all of us to remember. Now I’m keeping cardboard boxes out of the garbage by putting them into my compost. Needs must.
First, I flatten the box then put it through the shredder. All our shredded paper/cardboard goes outside to await its addition to the compost heaps. My son’s office gives me shredded paper and some of my compost partners also drop off their shredded paper. Plenty to go around.
I shouldn’t put colored paper in my compost but its not much color and there’s no shiny plastic coat on the outside. Plastic shiny coats are a definite no-no.
