The Charging Challenge

Why aren’t there more charging stations for electric cars?

Two weeks ago I spent the night at a first rate resort on International Drive in Orlando, Florida. The Rosen Center is across the street from the Orange County Convention Center and is its official hotel. This place has “state of the art” everything but no charging stations for electric cars. Have not yet contacted the hotel to express my displeasure. I did indicate to the group I met with that I found the lack of electric charging stations very backward. Hopefully, they will send the complaint up the chain of command.

I wanted to charge my car and was very frustrated. The concierge and I spent a lot of time trying to solve my problem. Finally he found out the convention center had two charging facilities so I drove across the street and found them. Wow! They were nice. No one came out and spelled it out but I think these “Solar trees” actually supplied the power for my car. Anyway, I like to think so.

Here’s my little Volt finally connected to its power source.

Solar trees should be everywhere in Florida. Much better than burning fossil fuels.
