Plarn Mats for the Homeless
Well, here it is! I finally finished my first mat made out of plarn. Someone estimated there are five hundred bags in one of these babies My friend, Cheryl, took the picture. Standing beside me is her granddaughter, Beatrice, a budding environmentalist.
Below you see me giving the mat to Lillian, an employee at St. Francis House, the homeless shelter in Gainesville. The idea here is to give the mat to someone sleeping outside. It protects him and his bedding from the elements.
