Sister's Place

Here’s Williston’s newest restaurant in Williston and it’s definitely worth the trip. Sister’s Place is a little “hole in the wall” located at 20 NE 3rd St which is an old house that’s divided to house two businesses. The restaurant shares it with a beauty shop. Their phone number is 352-528-5500. They do a great take-out business. Click here to view their Facebook page.

Their location is right across the street from Drummond Bank.

Michelle Fortner, the lovely owner of Sister’s Place, is passionate about serving her customers good food from local sources. In Barbara Kingsolver’s book, Animal, Vegetable, Miracle, she quotes some very disturbing statistics. Every calorie of food we eat in America was shipped and produced with nine calories of fossil fuels. For example, salmon caught in the Columbia River is flash frozen, flown to China for processing and packaging then flown back to the U.S.A. to be sold as an American product. Cheap fuel and cheap labor out-strips paying American workers every time. Michelle does her best to get her meat and veggies from local sources hence the big Farm to Table sign. When you eat with her you are supporting local food producers. Her produce comes courtesy of Fresh From Florida. Your meal might be a bit more expensive but the beef wasn’t raised in Argentina! Think about it. Where you spend your food dollars is very powerful.

Here’s the special on the day I visited: chili and jalapeño cornbread.

Make a visit for breakfast or lunch. You won’t regret it.
